Hillside Terrace is a division of the Community of St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc.
There comes a time in life when older adults and their families must make an important lifestyle decision; to remain at home or move to a nursing home. Today, that decision is made easier with the availability of Hillside Terrace Assisted Living, located on the campus of St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in Spencer, Iowa. We overlook the scenic Little Sioux River.
Hillside Terrace is an assisted living community unique to Northwest Iowa. It is much like a home with inviting surroundings, freedom, privacy, and planned social events.

ATMOSPHERE
An atmosphere of community and care prevail. Seniors live alongside neighbors who share their values and outlook on life. Staff members regard tenants as friends and families working to ensure individuals feel at ease in their home.
Hillside Terrace is a tasteful, three-story complex with 25 assisted living suites. Each suite offers a kitchenette, private bathroom, bedroom and an individually controlled thermostat. Other complex amenities include: laundry facilities, whirlpool bath, beauty and barbershop, chapel, dining room, activity room and community room.
The activity room and community room are equipped with kitchenettes and are popular gathering places for tenants and families alike.
PEACE OF MIND
Families feel confident with their loved one living at Hillside Terrace. Our staff is attuned to the various needs of all tenants. Our building features a wireless call-light system that will alert staff to the location of the tenant throughout the building with a push of button worn on their wrist or as a necklace.
A 24-hour monitoring system is in place to alert staff of medical emergencies and trained health care professionals are available 24-hours a day. The complext is secured with alarmed entrances.

LIVING CRITERIA
Individuals interested in making Hillside Terrace their home must meet the following criteria:
- Must have the financial resources to pay for services and assessed fees.
- Must be independently mobile within their unit. Assistive devices may be used.
- Must be able to manage activities of daily living independently or with the assistance of one.
- Must maintain both person and the unit in a manner that is not detrimental to either the safety or the physical, mental or economical well-being of self or others.
- Must be able to manage bladder and bowel in a manner that keeps self, unit and building clean and odor free.
- Must have the ability to feed self.
- Must not require more than part-time or intermittent health-related care, requiring more than eight hours of assistance, health related care and supervision per day.
- Must be capable of caring for a medical device such as a colostomy, ileostomy, urinary catheter, oxygen or other medical needs, including medication independently or with the assistance of staff.
- Must avoid exhibiting behavior problems that disturb other tenants of the community.
