Bible Study Schedule
Our residents enjoy opportunities for Bible study. Current issues are often discussed with a Christ-centered focus, using relevant scriptures. Hymn singing is enjoyed in all group gatherings. Bible study schedules are as follows:

Worship Volunteers
Much credit is given to local groups, churches, organizations and individuals who assist in our weekly services and programs.
Round-up Volunteers: Serve on round-up teams to transport residents to and from worship services. The residents enjoy having the volunteers join them for worship, as well.
Accompanists / Organists: All are uplifted singing "new songs before the Lord!" Residents are no different. Accompanists and organists are always needed to assist in the weekly chapel services..
*A sixth-month schedule is created for round-up teams, accompanists, service and hymn guides.

Alzheimer's & Dementia Ministry
Alzheimer's and other dementia-related diseases are progressive, and often leave a loved one as someone you never knew. Often times, the family is hurt -- feeling grief, despair and anger.
Family members often have questions:
Why doesn't Dad remember me?
How can we relate?
How do I get through to Mom?
Our chaplain facilitates family support group sessions for those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia-related diseases, working actively with residents and family members who are affected by dementia-related and Alzheimer's Disease.
Dying & Bereaved Ministry
When faced with death and dying, some may wonder what ministry could there be? This thought is more common than not!
Dying
Ministry to the dying involves a progressive ministry, that includes:
- Aiding the dying to realize and accept his or her impending death
- Guiding the dying to a spiritual understanding, which leads him/her toward closure during a difficult stage in life
- Reaffirming the acceptance of death, which brings peace to the dying and with God
Our chaplain works with each dying resident, using music, prayer, scriptures and focusing on the process of closure, so that the knowledge of passing is not as devastating.
Hospice
Hospice is a ministry for volunteers who visit dying residents. The visits assist in bringing peace, comfort and acceptance of one's death. Hospice of Spencer, Iowa, in conjunction with Spencer Hospital, provides this valuable service to those facing eternity. The Spencer Hospice Program may be reached at: 712.264.6365.
Bereaved
We often lack courage and strength to endure the devastating loss of parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. One need not grieve alone.
The St. Luke Campus Pastoral Care Program offers bereavement support groups and personal counseling, GriefShare, a community support group, is open to the public. The group meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in The Highlands Celebration Suite, during the months of February through May and August through December. GriefShare literature is supplied by our friends at Warner Funeral Home of Spencer, Iowa.
Staff & Community Ministry
The staff of St. Luke is an integral part of the campus, and we work to provide a positive environment for all. However, the daily trials of life may affect an employee at work, weighing heavily upon the individual.
Staff & Employee Ministry
The St. Luke Pastoral Care Service offers encouragement and a listening ear for all staff and employees.
Employee devotions are available for employees upon request.
In-services are held as a positive teaching tool to benefit employees for a better understanding of spirituality within the workplace.
Service to the Community
The St. Luke Pastoral Care Program maintains active involvement and a positive relationship within the community. The Chaplain's office strives to coordinate our efforts with those of our residents' churches so that their spiritual needs can be fully met.
