David West


David has served as the Administrator for St. Luke Lutheran Home since January 2016. He has been active in the long-term healthcare field since 1977.

Born in Seneca, Illinois, Dave received his Long Term Care Administration degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He is an Iowa- and Wisconsin-licensed nursing home administrator and, since 1987, has served at facilities in Marinette, Prairie Farm, Wisconsin Rapids and Chetek, Wisconsin.

Between them, Dave and his wife, Pam, have 10 children and 10 grandchildren. During his spare time, Dave has served as a Scoutmaster, Lions Club member and officeholder, church trustee and Sunday school teacher. He also volunteered with the Chetek Fire Department and worked as an EMT with the Chetek Ambulance Service.

Nancy Mills

Director of Health Services

Nancy has served as the Director of Health Services for St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. since the summer of 2003.

Nancy is a Spencer native graduating from Spencer High Scool. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) located in Emmetsburg, Iowa in 1986. Nancy continued her education and training from Rochester University located in Rochester, Minnesota where she was exposed to clinical experiences at St. Mary's and Methodist Hospitals.

Greg Meeter

Chief Financial Officer/Controller

Greg has served as the St. Luke Campus Chief Financial Officer/Controller since 1989.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Dordt College located in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Prior to joining the St. Luke family, Greg served as a Certified Public Accountant for Winther, Stave & Co. LLP, in Spencer, Iowa.

Kim Krause

Office Manager/Human Resources

Kim joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in 1995, serving as the office manager and coordinator of human resources.

Her responsibilities include payroll and responding to inquiries directed towards the human resources department for the St. Luke campus.

Mary Hughes

Director of Dietary Services

Mary joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in April 1992. She served as a dietary aide at St. Luke Lutheran Home during high school, as well as a cook and assistant dietary director, before becoming St. Luke Homes & Services’ director of dietary services in April 2018.

The Spencer High School graduate is attending the University of North Dakota to earn her Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional credentials.

In her spare time, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their two children: Gage and Grace.

Amanda Klein

St. Luke Homes & Services Activities Director

Amanda has been working in the Activities Department with St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home since the fall of 2010.

She grew up in Spencer, Iowa. After graduating from Spencer High School in 2005, Amanda went onto Iowa Lakes Community College receiving her Associate of Arts degree. Amanda then transferred to Buena Vista University located in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she received a Business Management degree in 2009. In May 2010, Amanda took the Activities Coordinator course through Iowa Lakes Community College.

Amanda enjoys planning activities for the residents of St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home, as well as the tenants of Riverview Terrace. Seeing the residents involved and having fun brings joy to Amanda's life.

In her spare time, Amanda likes scrapbooking, traveling, bike riding, exercising, and spending time with her husband.

Elizabeth Essick


Liz joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. as a laundry aide in January 2008, and transitioned to serving as the receptionist for St. Luke Lutheran Home in July 2012.

She is responsible for directing visitors, families and residents to either staff members or residents in the building. Liz’s duties include receiving all incoming telephone calls, entering data information on new residents and changing data that may arise, and performing any clerical tasks assigned.

Liz enjoys working in the healthcare setting and finds her job at St. Luke Lutheran Home rewarding. She greatly enjoys the staff and visiting with residents and their families.

Katie Chindlund

Social Worker

Katie has served as the Social Worker for St. Luke Lutheran Home since October 2018.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Buena Vista University.

Katie grew up outside of Webb. She now lives in Rembrandt with her family. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two boys: Lukas and Jayce.

Katie is a strong advocate for residents and works hard to make sure their needs are being met. Her goal is to help residents enjoy their stay at St. Luke Homes & Services.

Dale Meyer

Maintenance Director

Dale has been serving as the Maintenance Director of St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. since July of 1992.

In 1993, he became a Certified Boiler Operator Grade I. In 2004, Dale received his Class I Plumbing Contractor License.

Dale served as the Building Project Manager for all three phases of Riverview Terrace and for the Aquatic Center addition on the St. Luke campus. Dale's duties include overseeing all plant operations at St. Luke, Highlands, and Riverview, as well as the two rental properties St. Luke owns.

Currently, Dale is involved with Chapter #42 Iowa Association of Building Engineers and has been active with the group since 1993. He also is a board member for the Shayla Bee Fund, an organization helping working families with a child in medical crisis.

Becky Thong

Housekeeping Director

Becky joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke in December 1985, starting in the House-keeping department. She became the department supervisor in July of 2007 and manages a dedicated staff that provides services to both the Nursing Home and the Highlands facility.

Becky finds her job at St. Luke Homes & Services very rewarding and enjoys both the award winning team environment while providing outstanding services to all residents.

Linda Manwarren

Laundry Supervisor

Linda has been with St Luke’s since October of 2007.

She grew up in Spencer. After graduating from Spencer High School, Linda attended Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) for a year. She and her husband have raised their family in Spencer, as well.

The laundry department at St. Luke’s consists of four employees. They launder the Nursing Home resident’s personal laundry and all of the linens used by the St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home facility. They deliver clean clothes to the resident’s rooms daily, Monday through Saturday. They also launder and restock seven linen closets daily.

Linda is responsible for maintaining a clean and efficient laundry department. She oversees and schedules the laundry staff, orderes linens, keeps circulated linens in good order, and carefully monitors the distribution of personal laundry to residents. The residents do appreciate the service, as one resident commented, "Thank you for doing what I can no longer do myself."

Kris Todd

Marketing/PR Director

Kris has served as the Marketing & Public Relations Director for St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. since January 2012. In this role, her responsibilities include providing public relations and marketing initiatives for St. Luke Lutheran Home, Riverview Terrace Assisted Living, and The Highlands.

Prior to joining the St. Luke Homes & Services staff, Kris served as a newspaper reporter and photographer, a director of marketing and public relations, and as a radio news anchor and assistant farm director.

Kris serves on the board of directors for the Clay County Community Foundation and Spencer's Renaissance Initiative Committee.

Pastor John Syvertson


Pastor John Syvertson attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul and earned a Master of Arts in Gerontology in 2001 and a Master of Divinity degree in 2003. He has served congregations in Kenmare, Bowbells, Jamestown, Milton and Osnabrock, N.D., and Colton, S.D. His duties as a full-time chaplain for the St. Luke Homes and Services campus started in April 2013.

Throughout his life and ministry, both as an ordained minister and also in his secular life as a social worker, Pastor Syvertson has worked with older individuals. As a social worker, he was employed as a nursing home social worker and in home- and community-based services at the county and state levels in North Dakota and Minnesota. Pastor Syvertson, who has a passion for working with the elderly, finds the work very satisfying. His duties include conducting all worship services for the nursing home and two assisted living complexes, as well as leading all Bible classes. He conducts memorial services and does bereavement counseling with the families of our residents.

Chaplain Syvertson keeps busy working with the residents and staff at The Highlands, Riverview Terrace Assisted Living and St. Luke Lutheran Home.
